Infusion Services

Registered nurses, specially trained in infusion therapy, administer chemotherapy and closely monitor patients during each therapy session. Chemotherapy is delivered in a peaceful, relaxed setting.

In efforts to make our patients’ time with us as comfortable and convenient as possible we have several television sets with personal ear phones and provide wireless internet to be used with personal laptop computers with wireless capability.

Laboratory

Our on-site laboratory provides convenience for patients This in-house capability enables our medical technologists, laboratory technicians and other specially trained laboratory staff to monitor responses to therapy and help determine effective treatment for patients.

Diagnostic Imaging

For added convenience to our patients, we have our own imaging suite, NTX Imaging. Our patients receive the same quality of care and respect as they have come to know from previous diagnostic centers with the added benefit of immediate viewing of the images by their physician in our office. Our imaging suite is located in Suite 700 of Professional Building III on the campus of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas - conveniently connected to our Dallas Office building by a sky walk over Greenville Avenue. We make all scheduling arrangements for our patients’ diagnostic imaging through our suite.

Second Opinion Clinic

Cancer is a frightening diagnosis, and the recommended choices for treatment may be complex and difficult for a patient to evaluate. For many cancers, no one particular treatment is clearly the best for all patients. This is the motivation for patients to seek a second opinion, and perfectly acceptable and common practice in cancer care.

Outpatient Pharmacy

NexGen Oncology offers the convenience of an on-site pharmacy. NexGen Oncology pharmacy stocks oral chemotherapy agents, anti-nausea medications, and many of the “supportive” medications that are important to the success of your treatment. We accept most prescription insurance (including Medicare part D plans) and our pharmacist, Jean Bremer, has many years of experience working with oncology and hematology patients. The Pharmacy is open 8:30am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday to meet the needs of our patients during their visit to our facility. That means no more extra stops or long waits at a busy neighborhood pharmacy, and the benefit of an experienced clinical pharmacist available to answer your questions. Research Studies

NexGen Oncology recognizes the important role clinical trials play in the fight against cancer and have a variety of trials going on at any one time. Our mission, by offering clinical trials, is to help accelerate the introduction of new therapies to the community and facilitate rapid FDA approval of new cancer treatment products. Clinical trials/research studies are carefully controlled and designed to help find additional ways to improve health and the effectiveness of cancer treatments. In order to protect patients and ensure consistent testing procedures, clinical protocols must be adhered to. Clinical trials may involve the testing of a drug that has been approved by the FDA but not for the purpose in which it is being given in the trial. Additionally, new drugs are also tested through clinical trials to receive FDA approval. Clinical research trials occur in three phases.

Hereditary Cancer Screening

As part of our ongoing effort to provide comprehensive cancer care, our practice now includes Hereditary Cancer Screening. Specifically, we now have the capability to test for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, hereditary colorectal and endometrial cancer syndromes and hereditary melanoma syndrome. Most cancers are not passed down from generation to generation- however, in a small number of families cancers may be due to specific genetic factors that can be passed down from one generation to another. Identifying these genetic families can be beneficial in terms of accurately assessing the risk of cancer for an individual and his/her relatives, and providing appropriate medical options to prevent cancer or reduce future cancer risk as much as possible. Fortunately, many insurance companies offer reimbursement for Hereditary Cancer Screening and our staff is more than happy to submit your information for evaluation of coverage if you are found to be a good candidate for these tests.
